About Amanda

A life full of stories. Not necessarily sensible ones.

I’m Amanda. I travel solo, often with just a backpack, a wheelchair, an unreasonable amount of curiosity, and a willingness to ask the questions that make an adventure possible.

I like history, back roads, conversations with strangers, interesting places, and the stories that never make it into the glossy guidebooks. I’m not chasing perfect pictures or fairytale endings. I’m here for the moments worth remembering—even when they involve cobblestones, mishaps, and a few choice words.

Where the wandering started

Amanda and Dot sit close together on a patterned sofa, smiling at the camera.

Two generations, one handwritten letter from Mexico. Years after Dot wrote about her travels, we were reading that story together. Some of the best adventures keep traveling long after we come home.

My grandmother Dot and Grandpa George collected postcards, photographs, local stories, and adventures. The travel bug didn’t come out of nowhere. It’s part of the family history, and I’m still adding chapters.

Traveling with a disability means I pay attention to the practical details: steps, wheels, lifts, transport, and whether a place can work for me. But accessibility isn’t the whole story. The people, history, culture, and surprising possibilities matter just as much.

What’s Damn Amanda about?

Travel. Life on wheels. Laughing at the unexpected. Learning something new. Saying the things that matter. And sometimes wandering down an entirely different rabbit hole because, well, that’s life.

Life’s about saying yes, then figuring out how.
